First Thursday State College will continue its celebration of the arts on June 4 with exhibits, performances, and activities at locations throughout downtown State College and the Penn State campus. Participants will be identified by posters on the sidewalk outside the event venue. Unless otherwise noted, admission to all First Thursday events is free and open to the public.

Funding for First Thursday has been generously provided by the Knight Foundation Fund of the Centre County Community Foundation.

Parking is free every evening at the street meters after 6:00 p.m., every Thursday after 6:00 p.m. at the parking lots located on Fraser Street and Beaver Avenue and Allen Street (across from Municipal Building), and the McAllister parking deck. Parking is NOT FREE in the Fraser, Beaver and Pugh Street Garages.

The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) provides FREE BLUE and WHITE LOOP service all evening until 2:30 a.m. every Thursday during Full Service, with service operating every 6-11 minutes. The LOOPs provide circulator service through the University Park Campus and Downtown State College, providing free transportation to all First Thursday activities. Appalachian Outdoors:

7:00–8:00 p.m.: Come meet Jennifer Kane, local conservation artist, who will present digital photos and talk about her painting trip to Yosemite National Park and the High Sierras in California. She'll have her paints and easel set up and all the equipment she used to paint in the mountains. No registration required. Christian Science Reading Room and Bookstore:

5:30–7:30 p.m.: Spiritual Solutions to Problems. Explore the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to find spiritual solutions to life's challenges. Read about others who have had healings of allergies, cancer, migraines, lack of housing or money, etc. Learn how you can experience the same freedom in your life. The Creative Oasis:

5:30–7 p.m.: Demonstrations of wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery. — 133 East Beaver Avenue.

Growing Tree Toys:

5:30–7:30 p.m.: Make Crazy PlayFoam Creations. Children ages 5 and up can use the 5 colors of the super-moldable PlayFoam and supplies like wiggly eyes, feathers, beads, craft straws, and pipe cleaners to construct unique creations! Meet us at Growing Tree Toys — 202 South Allen Street.

Happy Valley Optical:

5–7 p.m.: Exhibition of Art work by artist TBA. Also, First Thursday special on sunglasses: 20% off — 208 South Allen Street.

Home Reflections:

5–7:30: Wine Tasting from the Oak Spring Winery. Sample the newest Pennsylvania Wines ranging from sweet fruit wines to dry reds. Help support local agriculture while enjoying wine for tasting and purchase — 244 East Calder Way.

Kitchen Kaboodle:

4–8 p.m.: Wüsthoff Knife Demonstration. See slicing, dicing, chopping, and more with Wüsthoff forged knives made in Germany since 1814. See at www.kitchenkaboodlepa.com — 104 West Beaver Avenue.

Penn State University Libraries

8 a.m.–10 p.m.: Exhibit. "The Penn State Life: 100+ Years of La Vie Online," Penn State's yearbook, is on display through August 14, in the main exhibit hall of Pattee Library.

8 a.m.–10 p.m.: A photographic exhibition, "Scattered among the Nations: Jewish Communities of India, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Peru and Uzbekistan" is on display through August 14, in the Candace and Patrick E. Malloy, III Diversity Studies Room. — 109 Pattee Library

Schlow Centre Region Library

7–8 p.m.: Rock/Pop Music — Philadelphia area singer/songwriter Alexandra Day performs songs that demonstrate a convergence of classical training and pop sensibility including selections from her recently released CD “No Castles No Moats” — 211 South Allen Street.

State High Football Boosters

4–6 p.m.: The Art of Football — Sneak preview of the 2009 State High football team and display of football-themed paintings and photographs — Memorial Field and Central Parklet.
