First Thursday State College will continue its celebration of the arts on August 7th with exhibits, performances, and activities at locations throughout downtown State College and the Penn State campus. Participants will be identified by posters on the sidewalk outside the event venue. Unless otherwise noted, admission to all First Thursday events is free and open to the public.

Funding for First Thursday has been generously provided by the Knight Foundation Fund of the Centre County Community Foundation.

Parking is free every evening at the street meters after 6:00 p.m., every Thursday after 6:00 p.m. at the parking lots located on Fraser Street and Beaver Avenue and Allen Street (across from Municipal Building), and the McAllister parking deck. Parking is NOT FREE in the Fraser, Beaver and Pugh Street Garages.

The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) provides FREE BLUE and WHITE LOOP service all evening until 2:30 a.m. every Thursday during Full Service, with service operating every 6-11 minutes. The LOOPs provide circulator service through the University Park Campus and Downtown State College, providing free transportation to all First Thursday activities. August Events

The Artisan Connection
5-8 p.m.:The Multi-Dimensional Pottery of Louisiana Artist Ken Follette. Follette Pottery began in 1979 and has grown to become one of the largest production potteries in the south.  Each piece is hand-crafted from high-fire porcelain and is oven proof, microwave and dishwasher safe.  The useful yet artistic pottery has a brilliant background that usually relates to bayou and Louisiana culture.  Visit us online at Artisanconnection.com- 135 East Beaver Avenue.

The Creative Oasis:

5:30-7 p.m.: Demonstrations of wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery-133 East Beaver Avenue.

Growing Tree Toys:

5:30–7:30 p.m.: Glow in the Dark Play Foam Activity.  Children ages 3 and up can use the one-of-a-kind, no mess Play Foam to create unique creatures and wonderful designs – all of which glow in the dark!  Meet us at Growing Tree Toys-202 South Allen Street.

Happy Valley Optical:

5-7  p.m.: Chalk renderings by William Snyder III – 208 South Allen Street.

"Anyone Would Have Done That: The Rescue of the 13 Jews from Ergoldsbach" - Diversity Studies Room, 109 Pattee Library.

"My Beloved Cartoonists: Original Cartoon Art from Fred Waring's America" -  in the Pattee Library main exhibit hall,.

8 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
"Faster, Higher and Stronger: The Modern Olympic Games," featuring the personal Olympic collection of Penn State Alumnus Hal Wilson, Penn State '51 - Frank and Mary J. Smeal Foundation Exhibits Hall, 104 Paterno Library.

4 p.m.
Hal Wilson will present a gallery talk about his Olympic collection, in 104 Paterno Library.

Schlow Centre Region Library

7-8:30 p.m.: Destination China – Traditional dance by the Chinese Dance Group and complimentary refreshments – Downsbrough Community Room.
